Provide convenient and safe air transport services

  • Lead the Pan Pacific region as an aviation powerhouse
  • Increase the number of serviced cities and international air routes to become the largest air transport hub in Asia
  • Expand the international aviation network by seeking strategic aviation talks with countries in Central/South America and Africa and Open Skies Agreements with EU, ASEAN, etc.
  • Promote air transport liberalization with Northeast and Southeast Asian countries or an increase in capacity entitlements with the growing popularity of low-cost carrier (LCC) services
  • Provide seamless air traffic control even in case of emergencies backed by the Second Air Transport Center established in Daegu in July 2017

Promote the rise of Incheon International Airport (IIA) to become a hub airport in Northeast Asia

  • Implement the third phase expansion project to make IIA, which has been in operation for almost 18 years, a ‘Northeast Asian Hub Airport’
  • Solidify the status of IIA as one of the world's best air ports backed by its cargo handling (second) and passenger transport (eighth) capacities
    • IIA serves 87 airlines, 187 cities, and 2,616 flights per week as of May 2015
    • IIA topped the airport service quality (ASQ) list of Airport Council International (ACI) for 12 consecutive years (2005-2016)
  • Provide the world-class immigration services by applying sophisticated IT-converged systems for self-service check-in kiosks, automated gates, etc.

Lay the foundation to foster the non-transport business

  • Promote the aviation leisure industry as a new growth engine for the aviation industry
  • Establish the supporting system for aircraft braking tests

Strengthen Korea's status as an aviation powerhouse

  • Maintain the world's top level in aviation safety and security assessment by International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO)
    • International standard compliance rate : 98.59% for safety and 98.57% for security
  • Maintain the status as the ICAO Council member state in the Part III group \
    • Elected for a sixth consecutive term in October 2016 for a three-year term
  • Pursue to be a mid-sized aircraft design country by establishing a national certification infrastructure for aircraft manufacturing
  • Implement aviation work force training projects* to create jobs for young adults and develop the aviation industry
    • Uljin Flight Traning Center, specialized colleges, internship, basic staff training, etc.
