The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT, Minister WON Hee-ryong) issued railroad route licenses to SR Inc. on 1 August to operate the Gyeongjeon Line, Jeolla Line, and Donghae Line, and is scheduled to open on Fri. 1 September through the approval process for changing the Safety Management System in accordance with the Railroad Safety Act.
As a result, from 1 Sep., the SRT will operate two round-trips per day each from Suseo to Jinju, Suseo to Yeosu, and Suseo to Pohang.
The number of train stops will also be expanded from 18 to 32 stations as the SRT routes, which had been operated only on the Gyeongbu and Honam lines, will be increased to 5 routes.
