Minister Won paid a visit to Terminal 2 of Incheon International Airport on Sun. 12 March to get briefed on the circumstances and responses to the accident in connection with the finding of live bullets on a Korean Airline bound for Manila on 10 March, and inspected the airport security check point calling for intensive measures to prevent recurrence.

Regarding the recent finding of live bullets in a passenger’s cabin, Minister Won mentioned, “As the Minister in charge of aircraft and airport safety, I express my regret, and although the investigation into the route of the live bullets, etc. has not been completed, it is obviously a security accident. We will first check all possibilities putting our fullest effort to determine the cause, and accurately inform the public of all the processes and results.”

Subsequently, Minister Won visited the security check point at the departure hall of Incheon International Airport, checked cutting-edge security check equipment such as CT X-ray and circular check equipment, etc. and closely inspected the performance of security check officers, while saying, “Airport operators can improve the accuracy of security checks to the world’s highest level, but to take care of the airport service so as not to cause excessive inconvenience to passengers.”

On the other hand, Minister Won made his first visit to the 'Counter-Terrorism Situation Room' at Incheon Airport, which was jointly organized by the MOLIT, the Police, and Incheon International Airport Corporation, and checked the site where the entire area of Incheon Airport was monitored in detail through the integrated security system and CCTV, as well as counter procedures in case of a terrorist situation such as discovery of explosives.
