Remarkable History of Korea’s Overseas Construction Achieving $1 Trillion

Overseas construction sector surpassed $1 trillion in cumulative orders followed by semiconductors and automobiles, and its 60th commemoration was held on Tuesday 29 April at the Construction Hall in Seoul hosted by the International Contractors Association of Korea (ICAK) and supported by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT).
The 60th anniversary was to celebrate the achieving amount in overseas construction contracts after Korea’s entry into global construction markets 59 years ago, for the first time with a milestone of Pattani–Narathiwat Highway project in Thailand launched on 1 November in 1965 by Hyundai E&C, as well as recognizing and honoring its dedicated individuals with presidential citations and ministerial awards, and so forth.
