As of 14:00 PM on 6 January 2025, the current status of countermeasures to the Jeju Air Flight 2216 accident in Muan International Airport,
which occurred approximately at 9:03 AM on Sunday 29 December 2024 (KST), is as follows:
[Identification of the victims, and funerals]
All 179 deceased out of 181 occupants from the Jeju Air have been identified (147 via fingerprints, 32 via DNA) and have been escorted to
funeral homes as of noon today, with 2 survivors being in hospitalized.
[Investigation of the accident]
The Aviation and Railway Accident Investigation Board is conducting an ongoing investigation of the two engines and other critical
components that have been transferred to a hangar, while putting continuous efforts to collect and transport aircraft debris from outside the airport perimeter to within the secured area, with the officially extended closure period of the Muan Airport until 5:00 AM on 14 January 2025 in consideration of the ongoing accident investigation.
The Cockpit Voice Recorder (CVR) transcript was completed on 4 January, while departing for the transfer of the Flight Data Recorder (FDR)
to Washington D.C., US this afternoon carried by two representatives from the Investigation Board.
